O Father God, I begin this week by worshipping You. I say with the Psalmist in Psalm 97:6 that the heavens declare Your righteousness and glory, holy God, and the skies show Your handiwork. You are mighty, and You are due strength and adoration and glory. I worship You, Lord, in the beauty of Your holiness. You reign, and I praise Your great and awesome name, for You are holy. You love justice. You are righteous. I exalt You, Lord, and I worship at Your footstool. You are great. You are always good. Amen
Jesus, God has highly exalted You and bestowed on You the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. As recorded in Revelation 4:11, "Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created." Amen
O Holy Spirit, You are eternal. Your presence is everywhere, and Your hand leads me, and Your right hand holds me. You search all things, even the deep things of God, and You reveal these things to those who love You. In John 14:26 I am told that You are my Helper and the Father sent You to me in Jesus' name, saying that You will teach me all things and bring to remembrance all things. Amen
According to 1 John 1:9, I confess my sins to You. Father, You are faithful and just to forgive and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. According to Psalm 19:14, let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my redeemer. According to your Word in Isaiah 1:18, You promise that though my sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow. Amen
According to Your Word in Romans 12:1, help me always, by Your mercies, to present myself as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to You, which is my spiritual act of worship. According to Romans 12:2, O Lord, I do not want to be conformed to this world, but I want to be transformed by the renewal of my mind, that by testing I may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Amen
In James 4:8, I am reminded in Scripture that You invite me to draw near to You, and that You will draw near to me. According to Psalm 100:4, I enter Your gates this week with thanksgiving and Your courts with praise. I give thanks to You and bless Your name. Amen
Lord, Your Word in John 10:3 & 27 tells me that You bring out Your own sheep, and You go before them, and Your sheep follow You, for they know Your voice. Holy Spirit help me to hear and know Your voice. I want to quiet myself to anything except You. In John 15:15 I am reminded that You, Jesus, call me Your friend and that the things You hear from Your Father You make known to me by Your Spirit. O Lord Jesus, help me to live as Your friend always. Amen
God, according to Psalm 119:105, Your Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. I pray now for the light of Your Word in my life. You long to both meet with me and speak with me, and I pray for that kind of close relationship with You. According to Your Word in Hebrews 4:16 I boldly come before Your throne of grace, that I would obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Amen
As in 1 Samuel 3:9 I pray the same words as Samuel, "Speak Lord, for your servant hears." I pray I would hear nothing except Your voice. I pray that You would confirm to me Your voice by Your Word. Take me to the scripture You want me to read. Bring to my mind Your Word that You want me to know. According to Your Word in Proverbs 3:6, direct my paths and make them straight. Impress upon my heart Your Word for my life this week. Amen
According to Your Word in Colossians 3:15, I pray for the peace of God to rule in my heart - that Your Word and peace would be the deciding factor in how I live. I am reminded in James 1:17 that You are a good God, that every good and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. I pray now for the strength and power by Your Holy Spirit to obey Your Word. I declare by the authority of Your Word and by my trust in You that I am God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works in this week which You prepared in advance for me to do. Amen
I ask all these things now through the Lord Jesus Christ and pray the following prayer out loud in faith. Amen
For Shattering My Soul’s Strongholds
My Father, dwelling in the heavenly realms, may the glory of your name be the center on which my life turns. Manifest your kingdom realm, and cause your every purpose to be fulfilled on earth, just as it is fulfilled in heaven. I acknowledge you as my Provider of all I need this week. Forgive me the wrongs I have done as I myself release forgiveness to those who have wronged me. Rescue me every time I face tribulation and set me free from evil. For you are the King who rules with power and glory forever. Amen!
Father God, Your Word in Matthew 16:19 says, "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven." This week I trust in the power of Your Word to loose those things from my unsurrendered soul that are hindering me from realizing your purpose for my life... I also bind my mind to the truth of Your Word spoken in this prayer and trust in Your ability to align my thoughts and actions with those of Christ Jesus.
Father God, I believe in You and in Your ability to make the things I now pray a reality in my life. I trust in You, Lord, and not in things! Therefore, my faith this week is established and sure in what I now pray. Thank you Father…
In Job 33:4 I read that the Spirit of the living God has made me, and that the Breath of the Almighty God gives me life. In 2 Timothy 3:16 I am shown that all Scripture is inspired (God breathed) and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that I may be adequate and equipped for every good work. Also, in Ezekiel 37:9-10 I am shown that the Breath of God has the power to speak life into any situation no matter how impossible it might seem. Father, this week I bind my life to Your Word which is the Power of your Breath… As I speak your Words through this prayer I ask that your BREATH go forth to move within my every situation this week and complete (bring life into) my every task to your glory... AMEN! In Romans 8:26-27 I read that the Spirit intercedes on my behalf, continually bringing my will into union with the will of the Father… Holy Spirit of God, I bind my will to the will of the Father. Please bridge the gap between my will and the will of the Father and make my way Your way in my life this week!
In the name of Jesus Christ I speak these words out of my mouth trusting You, Father to make them a reality in my life. Heavenly Father, I bow in worship and praise before You. I cover myself with the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ as my protection during this time of prayer. Father – You have taught me that pride goes before destruction. This week I surrender my pride, my will to you – Baptize me afresh in your Spirit! According to Galatians 5:16 I choose to live by the Spirit, so as not to gratify the desires of my prideful, sinful nature. According to James 4:7 I submit myself completely and unreservedly in every area of my life to You, and by Your Spirit I resist the devil and every deception of my unsurrendered soul. According to Ephesians 6:11, I take a stand against all the works of the enemy and against anyone or anything that would hinder me during this time of prayer.
According to John 16:11 the ruler of this world has been judged already. Satan, having surrendered my soul and submitted my life to the Holy Spirit according to Galatians 5:16 and James 4:7 I therefore demand, in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that you leave my presence with all of your demons. According to Ezekiel 21:14-17 I prophesy and strike my hands together three times (strike hands three times). In doing this, may the Sword of the Lord, which is His Word, now go forth and be empowered to do double damage to your kingdom. Heavenly Father, I ask that You beat Your fists in response to my clapping my hands and that Your fury not rest until you have completely destroyed all the enemies which seek to defeat me in this week. As a result I am confident that Your Holy Spirit is the power of my life this week and Satan is defeated! Amen! Amen and Amen!
Father, Your Word in Proverbs 18:20-21 says that life and death are in the power of the tongue... This week according to Your Word in Matthew 16:18 and 19, in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I loose my tongue from ALL words that would speak death to my life and that of others (strike hands three times), and I bind my words to the truth of Your Word - which brings life! Father, I know the power that is in my words and I ask that You teach me to submit my tongue to Your Holy Spirit in this week!
In the name of Jesus Christ I loose all forms of selfishness in my life (strike hands three times) and bind myself to the new nature with its love. I loose all forms of fear in my life (strike hands three times) and bind myself to the new nature with its courage. I loose all forms of sickness in my emotions and body (strike hands three times) and in faith I bind myself to Christ’s death where He took all my infirmities and nailed all my sicknesses to the cross. According to Gal. 5:16- 17 I loose all forms of lust in my life (strike hands three times) and bind myself to the new nature through walking in righteousness, purity, and honesty. I loose and lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness in my life (strike hands three times); and in this week I bind myself to meekness and to the implanted Word which is able to save my soul according to James 1:21.
In the name of Jesus Christ I loose and tear down any strongholds of my soul and smash any plans that have been formed against me in this week (strike hands three times). I tear down and loose any strongholds formed against my mind (strike hands three times), and I bind and
surrender my mind to You, blessed Holy Spirit. I affirm, Heavenly Father, that You have not given me the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind according to 2 Timothy 1:7. I loose, break and smash any strongholds that have been formed against my emotions this week (strike hands three times) and I bind my emotions to You, Holy Spirit of God. I loose, break and smash the strongholds that have been formed against my will this week (strike hands three times). This week, I give my will to You, Holy Spirit of God, and I bind myself to making the right decisions of faith. I loose, break and smash the strongholds that have been formed against my body this week (strike hands three times). This week, I bind my body to You, Holy Spirit of God, recognizing that my body is Your temple. I loose, break and smash all forms of sickness from my body (strike hands three times), which would attempt to keep me from accomplishing the perfect will of God in my life this week. I loose, crush and smash any evil influence that would seek to gain a foothold in my soul in this week (strike hands three times).
Father, according to 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 I ask that You would forgive any words of doubt or negativity I have spoken as regards my finances. I loose ALL of the wrong attitudes and patterns of thinking I have about money (strike hands three times) and bind myself to Your truth. I loose and disassociate myself from any attitude of poverty (strike hands three times). By the authority of the Word of God I take back the joy, peace, blessing, freedom, and all material and spiritual possessions that have been stolen from me.
In the name of Jesus Christ I loose any attitude of procrastination and its access in my life in this week (strike hands three times). Father, I loose myself from anything or anyone that would seek to take Your place in my life this week (strike hands three times). I loose myself from any selfish or self-centered attitudes which are the seeds of the spirit of the antichrist (strike hands three times). In the name of Jesus Christ I loose every old, wrong pattern of thinking, attitude, idea, desire, belief, habit and behavior within my soul (strike hands three times). Forgive me,
Lord, for holding onto wrong ideas, desires, behaviors and habits. In the name of Jesus Christ, I loose, tear down, crush, smash and destroy every stronghold within my soul that I have erected to justify and protect them (strike hands three times). I loose the strongholds of my soul that I have built around these wrong ideas, desires, behaviors and habits that would keep me from being completely surrendered to the will of God for my life in this week (strike hands three times).
In the mighty name of Jesus Christ I loose all doubt and confusion from myself (strike hands three times). I loose the stronghold protecting wrong feelings I have against anyone (strike hands three times). I loose all fear, anger, shame, guilt and bitterness from my soul's bad memories (strike hands three times). I loose the power and effects of any harsh or hard words
– word curses – spoken about me, to me or by me (strike hands three times). I loose all generational bondages from myself (strike hands three times). Heavenly Father, I loose all wrong thoughts and evil imaginations that would keep me from being in sweet unity with You (strike hands three times). I loose every hindrance and device of my soul that would seek to
distract me from moving deeper in You (strike hands three times). I loose every wrong agreement I have ever entered into whether it was with another person, a wrong spirit, a deception or a false philosophy (strike hands three times). I loose, cut and sever any and all soul ties I have ever formed with anyone that was not entered into according to the divine will of God for my life (strike hands three times).
In the name of Jesus Christ I loose, sever and destroy any justifications, logic or arguments my soul has held onto to excuse wrong attitudes, patterns of behavior, bitterness or unforgiveness in my life (strike hands three times). I loose and strip off any grave clothes from my soul, any generational bondage's hidden within my soul, any opposition and resistance by my soul and any hidden agendas of my soul (strike hands three times). I loose the self-control, self-defense, self-reliance and self-protection that I have allowed my soul to layer over my unmet needs, unhealed hurts, bitterness and unresolved issues (strike hands three times). I loose every fear in me that I will be disappointed and hurt further if my soul's unmet needs are revealed (strike hands three times). Heavenly Father, I loose every wrong belief of my soul that I have ever held onto that said You wouldn't fix every single hurt and unresolved issue in my life (strike hands three times), and I trust that You will make me whole and strong – filled in my spirit with joy and peace.
Heavenly Father, having loosed and swept clean every hindrance and device of my un- surrendered soul I now bind myself to walking in complete and prompt obedience to Your will and purpose for my life in this week. In the name of Jesus Christ, I bind myself to the truth of God found in His Word. I bind my will to You, Holy Spirit of God, that I will not entertain FEAR, but that I will walk in the POWER of Christ! I bind myself to an awareness of the power of the blood of Jesus working in my life in this week. In this week I bind myself to being a doer of the Word, and not a hearer only. In so doing, I believe that You will bless my work as You have promised according to James 1:22-25. I bind my mind to the mind of Christ that I can have the thoughts, purposes and feelings of His heart in me. I bind my feet to the paths you, Lord, have ordained for me to walk that my steps will be strong and steady. I bind myself to the victory of the ascended and glorified Lord Jesus Christ, whereby all the principalities and powers were made subject to Him. I claim my place in Christ as victorious with Him over all the enemies of my soul.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I bind my will to the will of Christ, that I will be constantly aware of His will and purposes for my life. Heavenly Father, I bind myself to the Holy Spirit's attitudes and to the patterns of thinking of Jesus Christ - to the overcoming behavior and to those desires that bear good spiritual fruit. I bind myself, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ my Lord, to doing those things that will bring love, joy and peace, and I rejoice in His mercy and goodness. I bind Your truth in my spirit so that I will not be overcome by the many subtle deceptions of my soul, the world or the devil. I bind my spirit to the blood of Jesus, that I would never take it for granted
– so I will be constantly aware of its miracle-working power to restore and heal and keep me safe in this week. I bind my spirit to the mind of Christ so I can act as He would to the situations
I find myself in and to the people I am around. By the power of Jesus active in me, I bind my thoughts and actions to those of Christ. Father, I bind myself to the work of the Cross in my life so that this week I will die to my own selfish desires and motivations and be more like Jesus.
According to John 10:10 I bind myself to a life of abundance in this week as You continue to produce in my heart the compassion of a true giver of the riches you have blessed me with. According to Proverbs 3:9-10 I bind myself to the truth of Your Word in giving You the first-fruits of my income trusting You to provide the increase You have promised me. According to Matthew 8:17 Christ took my infirmities and bore my sicknesses. Therefore I bind myself to health this week in my emotions and my body. According to 3rd John 2, I bind myself to prosperity this week even as my soul prospers. Father, renew my mind and attitude about Your provision and my real needs and let me become a channel of Your abundance! You are able and willing to make ALL grace abound toward me, not so I will indulge myself, but so I will have more than enough in ALL things - so I can give and do and help in every good work. Blessed Holy Spirit, I bind myself to being filled by You in this week and pray that You would fill me up with all that You are! Move within me to break down every idol and cast out every foe. According to Your Word in 2 Chronicles 16:9 move throughout the world to strongly support me as I bind my heart completely to you. Father God, I ask You to forgive my doubts, to cleanse me and to guide my steps towards becoming the fulfillment of Your purposes for my new birth in Christ Jesus.
Lord God, according to your word in Ezekiel 21:14-17 I'm confident now that You have BEAT Your fists in response to my clapping my hands signifying that Your sword has gone forth to accomplish Your Word – to loose those things from my unsurrendered soul that I have loosed and to bind myself to the things of Your Word as I have prayed. By Your Spirit I believe that what I have prayed today and for this week is now ACTIVE and POWERFUL in my life to the glory of the Father! It is FINISHED – Amen! Amen and Amen!
Dearest Father - In Luke 10:19 You have promised me, "Now you understand that I have imparted to you my authority to trample over his kingdom. You will trample upon every demon before you and overcome every power Satan possesses. Absolutely nothing will harm you as you walk in this authority." Satan I choose to walk in the authority of Christ in this week. According to Ezekiel 21:14-17 I prophesy and strike my hands together three times to each of these areas where I take this authority trusting that God will beat His fists in response and give me success against your every attack this week. Satan, I take authority this week over every spirit of bitterness or resentment or hate or malice or envy or jealousy (strike hands three times). I take authority over every spirit of inferiority, fear, rejection, self-hate, self-pity, or self-
destruction in Jesus Name (strike hands three times). Satan, I take authority over every spirit of sexual immorality and impurity, fornication, lust and pornography (strike hands three times). Satan I take authority over every spirit of anger, pride or lying, every Jezebel spirit, every spirit of deception, manipulation or control (strike hands three times). I take authority over every spirit of criticism, judgementalism, arrogance, prejudice or racism (strike hands three times). I take authority over every spirit of greed, materialism, selfishness, covetousness or selfish ambition (strike hands three times). I take authority over depression, anxiety and worry (strike hands three times). Satan, I take authority over every spirit of legalism or religious pride or heresy or false doctrine (strike hands three times). I take authority over every spirit of stealing or slothfulness or laziness, unbelief and rebellion to authority (strike hands three times). I take authority over every spirit of guilt, shame, embarrassment or humiliation (strike hands three times). I take authority over every spirit of sickness or disease, infirmity or chronic health issues (strike hands three times). Satan, I take authority over every spirit of witchcraft or occult or blasphemy (strike hands three times).
Satan, it is in the name of Jesus Christ that I take this authority today and in this week and I command you and your demons to go - flee in the name of Jesus (strike hands three times). Amen, Amen and Amen
Special Notes (Knowledge Base For This Prayer)
In Job 9:32-35 it says, 32“God is not a mortal like me, so I cannot argue with him or take him to trial. 33If only there were a mediator between us, someone who could bring us together. 34The mediator could make God stop beating me, and I would no longer live in terror of his punishment. 35Then I could speak to him without fear, but I cannot do that in my own strength.“
First (Above all else) – God has provided me with a mediator in Christ Jesus. I have the ability to go before Him and He hears me…
With that in mind, please understand that I fully believe in the power of Christ to instantly deliver a believer from the negative effects of the old nature at the time of salvation.
However, this deliverance comes in stages for most of us – It is a journey... It is during this journey that this prayer has the power, through the Holy Spirit, to gives us the victory!
This is a powerful prayer based on the theology of the principals involved. However, there is a three-fold requirement that is necessary toward making this prayer effective in one’s daily
walk with Christ...
The #1 prerequisite is destroying Satan's lies and removing his smoke screens that have been erected to keep me in the dark about what is truly keeping me from an effective union with Christ toward bringing about His kingdom in my life. The basic lie is that he is the enemy and whom I need to focus on. But the truth is this...
In Revelation 20:1-3, 7-9 it says, "1THEN I saw an angel descending from heaven; he was holding the key of the Abyss (the bottomless pit) and a great chain was in his hand. 2And he gripped and overpowered the dragon, that old serpent [of primeval times], who is the devil and Satan, and [securely] bound him for a thousand years. 3Then he hurled him into the Abyss (the bottomless pit) and closed it and sealed it above him, so that he should no longer lead astray and deceive and seduce the nations until the thousand years were at an end. After that he must be liberated for a short time. 7And when the thousand years are completed, Satan will be released from his place of confinement. 8And he will go forth to deceive and seduce and lead astray the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth – Gog and Magog – to muster them for war; their number is like the sand of the sea. 9And they swarmed up over the broad plain of the earth and encircled the fortress (camp) of God's people (the saints) and the beloved city; (The Amplified Bible)
Surely after the entire Book of Revelation has been fulfilled in every way right through the battle of Armageddon, man will realize that God was telling the truth all along. And when man has been given 1,000 years with no satanic interference with his relationship with God, man will learn to fully trust God’s truth. Right? Man will finally be able to get it right, won’t he? Revelation 20:7 says that when Satan is released at the end of the 1,000 years, he goes right out and deceives the nations of the entire world all over again. He gathers an army whose numbers are like the grains of sand on the seashore (Revelation 20:8, Amplified Bible) for yet another rebellion against God. Mankind has 1,000 devil-proof years to get a relationship right with God and millions still don’t. Satan isn’t the problem! But he knows what is and he knows how to use our unsurrendered souls to bring chaos into our lives to distract us from our relationship with God.
Satan is the destroyer who would like to kill me, steal from me, and destroy me; but he is powerless over me (a child of God) unless he can get me to cooperate with him through the manipulation of my unsurrendered soul. But I have a sure word from the Lord that when I resist the devil, he must flee. It is only when I fail to resist him, when I swallow his lies, or when I keep giving him footholds and open doors of opportunity that he is able to attack me. My unsurrendered soul is what I need to focus on. Using the binding and loosing prayers are a sure key to living life in union with Christ.
Binding and loosing prayers function most effectively and permanently when applied to my own unsurrendered soul/old nature. The Keys of the Kingdom are most powerful when they are used to strip away what causes me to oppose myself instead of opposing Satan. I cannot continue to oppose myself and be an overcomer. A house divided against itself will always fall. I must be whole
and steady in my stand. I can only accomplish this through the unceasing and relentless purging of my unsurrendered soul's strongholds (unhealed hurts, unresolved issues and unmet needs). Then I will be able to cooperate with Christ in bringing about His kingdom (my soul will be moving in union with His Spirit).
The #2 (but most important) requirement is receiving the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This prayer is ineffective unless the person praying it has the necessary power within to make it a reality in their life. It is ONLY the Holy Spirit within each of us that gives us the power to live the life of Christ. In thinking about living the life of Christ, it is important to consider where the battle lies. The battle lies in the SOUL, our thoughts, our desires and our feelings. We fail when we allow our unsurrendered souls to rule over our thinking, desires and feelings. We overcome when we allow the Holy Spirit (Who has the thoughts, desires and feelings of Christ Jesus) to empower our regenerated spirits to live the life of Christ.
At the time of Salvation each of us receives the Holy Spirit as the seal of our union with Christ. However, we do not receive the power of the Holy Spirit to live the Christian life until we surrender our souls power and ask to receive the Spirit's power through the baptism in the Holy Spirit. This is the KEY to removing the soul's power to manage our lives and gives God the power within us to live the life of Christ. God will not defy our will to live our own lives. We have to surrender that will to Him! We do this by an act of surrender by receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit (as an act of our wills). But many have failed to realize that this isn't the end of the matter. After receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit we have to first daily loose the many strongholds of our souls and second continually bind our minds to the Word of God.
The #3 requirement is found in the principle of accountability. This is an essential key to overcoming the power of our unsurrendered souls. When we give a significant other the right to hold us accountable in areas where we particularly struggle, this gives us the strength and support to overcome.
It is the combination of. . .
Receiving the baptism in the Holy Spirit
The daily loosing and binding of our unsurrendered souls and
The principle of accountability
. . . that gives us the true victory in living the life of Christ.
This combination is the necessary requirement to any type of freedom or equipping ministry in the church.
Why Pray This Prayer…
2 Corinthians 10:4-5 says, "We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ. Our tools are ready and at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity." – the Message Bible
These God-tools are found in Matthew 16:19 (18:18) which says, "I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind on earth shall have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall have been loosed in heaven."
In the first part of this verse Christ is giving me permission, authority and ability to enter into the kingdom of heaven to transact spiritual business. In the second part He tells me how to transact that spiritual business. But what I learned growing up concerning this verse is far different from what I believe is actually taught here…
Growing up I was taught that this verse illustrated the means of binding the devil or evil spirits and the loosing of the Holy Spirit or ministering spirits as a way to loose a person from bondage. But I find no record of Jesus ever binding an evil spirit or a demon. He either rebuked them or told them to get out. Jesus was not interested in binding, but rather driving out evil spirits.
A study of the Greek word for bind, deo, means to bind, be in bonds, knit, fasten, tie and wind. This word is related to deomai, meaning to beg as in binding oneself to petition, beseech, make request and pray. I find that this word “bind,” in its various tenses, is more complex and meaningful than generally thought. It is meant to be used for more than just tying up an evil spirit.
The Greek word for loose, luo, means to loosen, break up, destroy, dissolve, unloose, melt and put off. Luo is related to rhegnumi and agnumi which mean to break, wreck, crack to sunder by separation of its parts, shatter, to minute fragments, disrupt, lacerate, convulse, burst, rend and tear – These are powerful words a spiritual warrior can get into!
The reason Matthew 16:19 is so important is because I have a soul (my mind, emotions and body) that is at war with the spirit of God that now resides within me. It has been trained by the many people and experiences of my life to resist God and to have its’ own way. It is through the binding and loosing prayers that I gain power over my soul to live the life of Christ as I rid my soul of all these things that it so aggressively clings to (unhealed hurts, unresolved issues and unmet needs that have produced strongholds). It is through the binding and loosing prayers that I allow space in my soul for the Spirit of the living God to take up residence within me – empowering me to live the life of Christ.
1 John 5:14-15 says, "This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him."
The whole purpose of using the binding and loosing prayers is to bring my soul into perfect alignment with the will of God for my life. So – using these tools gives me the confidence that I am asking for what He wants for me. I'm effectively bringing my mind, will and emotions into right alignment with His purposes for my life. Living my life in Christ does not have to be such a huge struggle – He has given me the tools and the ability in my renewed spirit to accomplish His goals and purposes in my life and that of those He has placed within my circle of influence.
Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit."
Ezekiel 21:14-17 says, "You therefore, son of man, prophesy, And strike your hands together. The third time let the sword do double damage. It is the sword that slays, The sword that slays the great men, That enters their private chambers. 15 I have set the point of the sword against all their gates, That the heart may melt and many may stumble. Ah! It is made bright; It is grasped for slaughter: Swords at the ready! Thrust right! Set your blade! Thrust left — Wherever your edge is ordered! I also will beat My fists together, And I will cause My fury to rest; I, the Lord, have spoken.”
Job 33:4 and Ezekiel 37:9-10 speak of the BREATH of the almighty God (His Word – the Bible) which gives me life (it has the power to speak life into my every situation and circumstance!).
Praying out loud – I loose things from and I bind things to my life. I clap my hands three times during those portions of the prayer when I am loosing things from my life (this is when I believe the Sword of God is going forth to smite Satan and his activity in my life). Note: 3 and 7 are perfect numbers in the Bible – so striking my hands three times has great significance. Based upon these portions of Scripture I firmly believe that this prayer, spoken out of my mouth, has the power of life and death – life to my spirit, and death to the power of Satan over my life!
1 Chronicles 14:15 says, "And it shall be, when you hear a sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God has gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
The Secret To A Break Through – In the Bible, David always prayed and asked God what to do before a battle. In life every day I am in a battle with Satan as he is coming against me constantly to cause me loss and confusion. This battle is waged, not so much in the physical, but in the Spiritual realm. In this Scripture God tells David (and me) how this spiritual battle will be won... "When I hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees" signifies something very special as to how God fights for me. It is not physically possible to hear the sound of marching in the tops of mulberry trees. However, it is very easy to believe that the angels of God would be marching in the tops of mulberry trees as they go forth to do battle with Satan and his kingdom
on my behalf. So, when I pray this prayer it is my battle cry and I believe that God hears me; that He wields His Sword and with His army of angels goes forth to do battle on my behalf. So I can pray this prayer in the morning of each day and go out with confidence that the battle is already won for me.
The GLUE to it all…FAITH! This is a powerful prayer. However, it has little meaning or power unless it is prayed by FAITH. So what is the point or purpose of my praying this prayer every morning? It is imperative that I understand what faith is! “Faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.” – Heb. 11:1 But what does that mean?
The Most IMPORTANT Truths About Faith...
Faith is not believing FOR something or even IN something! Heb. 11:13 – They believed in and embraced the promises, but none saw the things happen in their lifetimes.
Faith is believing in SOMEONE!
Faith is not the absence of difficulties in my life, it is the nearness of God through the difficulties.
What if “Someone” is the evidence of the things I can’t see and the substance that I put my hope in? If I put my hope in something happening, I will be disappointed. If I put my hope in Someone, I will never be disappointed.
To grasp this fact it is important to back up this revelation with the Word of God. How is substance and evidence translated in other passages of Scripture? “who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged my sin, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,” – Heb 1:3 Person in this verse is the same Greek translation for substance. Jesus is the substance of God! So, relating this to Heb. 11:1 Jesus is the substance (who) I am to put my hope in.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,” – 2 Tim. 3:16 The word reproof here is the same Greek word for evidence. Evidence is the Word of God! Who is the Word of God – Jesus!
So what is Hebrews 11:1 telling me… God is the substance of the things I hope for and the evidence of the things I can’t see.
So, when I pray this prayer, what am I hoping for. Am I believing God FOR what I think is best
for the things I want? Or am I trusting in the person of God – Who is both the substance and the evidence of what I am praying for.
I will never be disappointed, if I put my faith in God and not in something happening. My disappointment always happens when I put my faith in something happening now instead of in the One Who can cause all things to work for my good, whether now or in the future. It is in understanding that God has an eternal purpose for me and my life, and that purpose is GOOD! So, faith is not going through difficulties, but going through the difficulties with God – trusting God that He will work every detail of my life out for my good.
I can have confidence that God is strongly moving throughout my world to support me as I bind my heart to His each day through this prayer – 2 Chronicles 16:9 "For the eyes of the LORD move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.”
Pastor Robert Morris of Gateway Church believes that one of the greatest statements of faith in the Bible is this: “If it is the case, my God whom I serve is able to deliver me from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver me from your hand, O king. But, if not, let it be known to you, O king, that I do not serve your gods, nor will I worship the gold image which you have set up.”
Dan. 3:17-18 So, I will establish my faith in God by trusting Him (He will deliver me – this is a fact!) and, if He doesn’t bring any of what I pray to pass (in this moment or in the near future), I will still trust in and worship Him. God will (He has promised to) establish this prayer in my life and that of my family, whether now or in eternity, but He will accomplish it as I pray it in faith in Him.
